Just a short note related to my previous post. Does anyone remember Monterrey Jack Doritos? They must've been around in the early 90's and came in a black bag. I remember a big marketing push for them and Jay Leno in commercials for it. Those were dang tasty, or at least I seem to remember them being good. You know what, I think they were called "Jumpin' Jack Cheese" Doritos. They had a black bag and pinkish writing on them.
I'm pretty much down for any Dorito flavor though, so maybe I'm not the best judge.
If you think back, there has been a lot of flavors/variations of major foods launched that have come and gone. Remember Crystal Pepsi? It tasted just like regular Pepsi, but it was clear. New "Coke" was one of the biggest disappointments ever and continues to be a business school case in not appreciating consumer preferences. What is funny is that "Diet Coke" as sold today is based on "New" Coke and not Coca-Cola Classic. Diet Coke sells like crazy, new Coke bombed miserably.
There are a million things that have come and gone. Some which were good, some which were not.
It is also funny to think of the old packaging. McDonalds had a burger that came in a special package where half the bun and the hot burger were on one side and the other half of the bun and lettuce/tomatoe were on the other. This kept the hot stuff hot and the cool stuff from getting soggy.
Who remembers when little Caesars pizzas came in the long card board thing with paper wrapped around them. That thing was so wide, you'd have to lay it across the back seat. The paper on top would soak up some grease from the pizza. Man, those were the days.
I'm beginning to think that my fascination with and nostalgia of food is not a health positive thing. Perhaps, I should wax eloquent of my love for steamed broccoli.

Hey Steve,
Welcome to the blogging world! It has been a cool place for me to write about stuff and keep everyone up to date on all kinds of stuff.
Yep, Jack did well, the little trooper. Should have our results tomorrow.
And on the subject of nostalgic food...
I have been an avid Pepsi fan forever. Although now I drink the decaf version, regular Pepsi is still the best in my book. So, when they came out with that crystal stuff, blechhh! My Dad swore Pepsi was Pepsi (he's a Coke guy) and that I could not tell the difference, but I could. Ewww, that was a big yucky mistake on their part.
And hey, why did the Dorito people go and put all that extra cheese dust on their nacho cheese doritos? They are just not as good as they used to be. I say "enough with the cheese dust already!"
Later,
Lisa
